Band Notes–Week of 11.03.19

Happy Noember!!

**7th and 8th Grade Concert—November 20th!!**
Information about the 7th and 8th grade band concert on Nov. 20th went home last week. Both Mr. Rahjten (our student teacher) and Ms. Wojdula (PSHS) will be guest conducting a piece! Please see the information sheet for uniform reminders and times to arrive. If it has been misplaced, you can find it under the “Forms” part of our band website.

Recital Night

Thursday, January 16, 2020 will be our Ensemble Recital Night!  This is for any student that wants to form an Ensemble and perform for family and friends.  It is a wonderful low-stress opportunity to play in a small group without the pressure of competition. Depending on the number of groups involved, it may be combined with Drauden Point at DP.

Students will fill out the form letting me know who is in their Ensemble and I will get them some music to choose from.  They will then need to practice with their group outside of the school day or during study hall.

**PLEASE NOTE: EACH student in the group must submit a form with a parent signature!

When I get all the groups signed up I will assign a performance time for that evening so families can make arrangements.  Times typically will run from 5-6pm.

Please Fill Out the Form and Return BEFORE November 8th

Forms were e-mailed home last week, and they can also be picked up in the band room or downloaded on the “Forms” part of this website.

Handbook Contracts
There are still a number of students that have not handed in their handbook contracts. They were due August 30th, and MUST be turned in as soon as possible!

Practicing at home
Just like a sport or other skill requiring both mental and physical ability, students should be practicing at home at MINIMUM on the days they do not have class. Brass should ALWAYS start with buzzing the mouthpiece for 2-3 minutes before playing, and everyone should work with long tones before working on pieces. Please see the “Parents” section on this site for more tips on at-home practice.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at: kbedore@psd202.org, as that is the way to reach me. Have a wonderful week!

-Mrs. Bedore
